10am - 4pm
In a relaxed and friendly setting enjoy a day of fun, practical and informative learning making a leather clutch. In a small group of a maximum of 4 students you'll learn the basics of leatherwork, all about the materials and tools, cutting and preparing natural vegetable tanned leather, and traditional hand stitching techniques, as well as fixing hardware. You'll have the opportunity to personalise your clutch with hand stamped detail, and you'll go home with a beautiful unique handmade item.
All materials are included in the price, solid brass hardware, and a choice of leather in a range of colours. Each leather hide is individually selected for its beautiful natural qualities, complete with hallmarks, scars and markings from the tanning process - a testament to the natural origin of the hide.
As this is a full day workshop, please bring a packed lunch. Tea and homemade cake is provided to keep your energy and creative levels up.
If you enjoy this introduction to leatherwork and would like to continue making some other projects at home, you'll be able to purchase a ‘Beginner’s Toolkit’ and a choice of vegetable tanned leather to get you started.
